Advanced Placement (AP) is the most widespread university preparation program in the world, recognized by universities in Canada, the United States and in over 60 countries around the world. AP courses offer university preparation content to students in secondary school, allowing students to study topics in greater depth, supporting the development of strong academic skills in research, critical thinking and time management. Some university admissions teams view AP participation as evidence of preparedness and commitment and students are provided the opportunity to explore subjects they are passionate about at a deeper level than standard secondary courses.

AP Exam Registration for Exam Written May 2027

AP exams are designed to cover rigorous, first-year university-level content. Because students study independently at Garth Webb, they are best prepared if they have completed or are currently taking the Grade 12 course associated with their chosen subject.

Student Information meeting will be hosted Monday, September 28th and Wednesday, September 30th at 11:15am in room 3040.

Registering for AP is a 2 Step Process:

1. Pay for your AP exam(s) on SchoolCashOnline.  

1. $180 per exam.  Payment is due by 11:59 PM on November 6th, 2026. 

2. Complete the GW Self-Study AP Exam Registration form (Linked Below)

1. Please submit this form only AFTER you have paid. You must included your payment receipt number in this form.

Please note: There are NO REFUNDS after November 6th, 2026.  AP Exams are open to GW students only. Exam requests will be dealt with on a first come first serve basis using this form.

In Late October, you will be sent an AP "Join Code" for self-study exams.  You must create an account and officially join your AP exam on the College Board website.

Starting in September 2027, Garth Webb SS will be offering Advanced Placement Prep courses in grades 9 and 10 for  Math, Science, English and Social Science courses!

*Grade 11/12 AP Courses will be offered IF there is enough interest to build a full class.  Otherwise, students will be supported by self-study

• Students get a head start on the work they will encounter in university.

• Successful completion of exams earns students advanced placement and/or credit in university.

• Exams are recognized by universities throughout Canada, United States and Europe.

• All universities in Ontario accept Advanced Placement exams.

• AP marks are entered on a separate transcript by the College Board and are only sent to universities at the student’s discretion.  

• Students can choose to forward AP marks for credit, delete AP marks from their transcript or even re-do AP exams if they are still in high school.
