Bike to School Week (B2SW) is a celebration of the journey to school by two (or three!) wheels that takes place every year during the last week of May.
This year, we’re celebrating Bike to School Week from June 1 – 5, 2026. We encourage families who are able to wheel to school to do so this week! A reminder that anytime you’re riding your bike, scooter, skateboard or rollerblades you should be wearing a helmet! Be alert when wheeling, keep an eye out for other pedestrians and vehicles. Before crossing driveways and roadways ensure that you’ve checked for any moving vehicles, stop and dismount at stop signs and intersections.
JungleSport is Coming!
We are excited to welcome the JungleSport program back to Pineland during the week of June 8-12. Each class will have 3 sessions through the week. Every student will require a signed consent form in order to participate. Forms will be coming home soon; please be sure to sign and have your child return it to their homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Note that all Junglesport activities follow strict safety rules. Students need closed toed shoes to participate; boots, Crocs, or other sandals/slides are not sufficient for Junglesport activities.
For more information about the program, please visit the Junglesport website: https://www.junglesport.com/
A big thank you to our parent council for funding this exciting event!

Ontario Day - June 1st
Ontario Day is coming up on June 1. Our school and the Halton District School Board recognize Ontario Day as an opportunity to celebrate the province’s rich history, innovation and the many people, places and communities that continue to shape Ontario today.
On June 1, our students will participate in learning and activities that explore Ontario’s past and present — including Ontario’s role in Canada, economic prosperity and creative and scientific innovation.
Ontario Day provides an opportunity to deepen understanding and appreciation of the shared experiences, milestones and contributions that continue to shape the province’s future.
Dead Battery Drive
Did you know that you can’t just throw away your dead batteries in the black, blue or green bin? If you were to ever do that then it would be very dangerous, environmentally harmful and often illegal. They can cause fires in garbage trucks and landfills, leak toxic chemicals into the environment and waste valuable recyclable metals. So if you have any dead batteries at home that are just lying around, put them in a plastic bag and bring them to school to be properly recycled. Students can bring their batteries to the checkout desk at the library or to Mme Panabaker’s room on the second floor, Room (203).
Thank you,
The Primary/Junior EcoClub.

Pineland School Bell Time Change 2026-2027
As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, I am sharing an important update regarding our daily schedule. Bell times at some Halton schools, including ours, are being adjusted to improve transportation efficiencies. These adjustments allow for better route sharing and cost efficiencies, ensuring that transportation resources continue to support growing communities and evolving programs.
Beginning September 2026, our school will be moving to the following bell times:
New Start Time: 9:20 a.m.
New Dismissal: 3:40 p.m.
I understand that changes in bell times can impact your family’s routines, including childcare arrangements and work schedules. We appreciate your flexibility as we transition to this new schedule for the coming year.
It’s Tick Season!
With students playing outdoors more and our school having lots of grass areas to play on, this is a reminder to be checking your child(ren) regularly for ticks.
(Taken from Halton Public Health website) - Residents throughout the region should continue to take precautions to prevent tick bites when enjoying the outdoors. Here are some steps to protect your health:If possible, avoid known tick areas (such as wooded, brushy or tall grass areas) and stay on trails when outdoors.
-
Cover up by wearing long sleeved, light coloured shirts and pants with tightly woven fabric.
-
Tuck your shirt into your pants and your pant legs into your socks to keep ticks away from your bare skin.
-
Wear shoes that cover your entire foot, avoiding sandals or open shoes.
-
Spray clothing and exposed skin with an insect repellent containing DEET or Icaridin.
-
Check your clothing and body for any ticks after spending time outdoors, especially around the groin, armpits and hairline. Carefully remove any ticks from yourself or a family member.
-
Check your pets regularly for ticks as they could carry ticks inside your home.
The Halton Region website has further information on ticks if you have any concerns or wish to read any further information about this topic:
Halton Region Information on Ticks
Ticks in the Community: As the presence of ticks is on the rise in Southern Ontario, we wanted to give you information from the Halton Public Health Department on managing and living with Ticks in the community.
Public Health has made a Fact Sheet available on their website: HE-tick-id-card-fact-sheet.pdf (halton.ca). Health Canada has also recently posted new resources on blacklegged ticks on their website. There are videos, posters, games that can help you and your children know more about managing these pests.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued cooperation to support our Pineland school community.
