Principal’s Message

Dear Paul A. Fisher Families,

We are so excited to welcome our students and families back to Paul A. Fisher for the 2026–2027 school year! I hope everyone has had an opportunity to enjoy quality time together and engage in summer fun!  As you know, we are returning to our school building located at 2175 Cavendish Drive, which has undergone a major renovation for the past year. Every area of the school has been updated and improved—we are thrilled with the results and cannot wait for you to see them! 

First Day of School & Daily Schedule

  • First Day: Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

  • Morning Arrival: Staff in neon safety vests will be on the blacktop starting at 8:35 a.m. to help students find their homeroom teachers (teachers will be holding signs with their name and grade). The entry bell rings at 8:50 a.m.

  • Blacktop Policy: To ensure student safety, only students and staff are permitted on the blacktop during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Exception: On the first morning only, parents and guardians are welcome onto the blacktop to connect their child with their new teacher before moving back to the field area.

  • Kindergarten Drop-off/Pick-up: Located at the kindergarten play area on the north side of the school facing Cavendish Drive.

  • Dismissal: School ends at 3:10 p.m. Supervision is provided until 3:25 p.m.

Classroom Assignments: Classroom assignments will be emailed home Friday, September 4th by 5:00 p.m. If you do not receive this email, please contact our Senior Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Howard, via email at howardal@hdsb.ca.

Our educators have put considerable time, thought, and care into building balanced classes based on many factors. While I will not be making changes to class placements, please email me directly if you have pressing concerns. Thank you in advance for your trust in our professional judgment as we work to provide the best possible learning environment for every child.

Health & Safety Policies

  • Nut-Free School: Please do not send any foods containing nuts to school.

  • Celebration Treats: To maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students, please do not send edible treats for special occasions (such as birthdays). Non-food items like pencils, erasers, or cards are great alternatives!

  • Medication & Plans of Care: If your child requires prescribed medication (e.g., EpiPen, inhaler), please send it on the first day. Every child with a Plan of Care requires two sets of medication at school: one kept with the student and a backup set stored in the main office.

  • Traffic & Parking Lot Safety: We encourage walking to school whenever possible! If driving, please strictly follow our safety guidelines:

    • Drive forward only following directional arrows (do not enter at the stop sign).

    • Remain in your vehicle—staff will assist your child at the drop-off line.

    • Students must wait until the car reaches the front of the drop-off line to exit or enter, and must never walk through the active parking lot.

    • Park only in designated spots (never along yellow lines or waiting in the middle of the lot). If full, park off-site and walk using the city crossing guard.

    • To keep morning traffic moving smoothly, please turn right onto Cavendish Drive or proceed straight onto Dawlish Rd when exiting. Avoiding left turns helps prevent delays for everyone!

Getting Involved & Staying Connected We are very proud of our enthusiastic learners and dedicated staff, and we look forward to partnering with you. Whether you volunteer in a classroom, join the School Council, or help out with a special event, we encourage you to get involved!

Our staff remains committed to HDSB’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment that promotes well-being and academic achievement for all. Throughout the year, your child's teacher will keep you updated with regular class communications, and I will send a weekly Friday update highlighting learning, school events, and important news at Paul A. Fisher. Please watch for an upcoming announcement regarding an Open House where you will be able to tour our newly renovated facility in the near future!!
