What does leadership look like when it creates opportunities for others? Today we are highlighting Teresa Woo-Paw, a Chinese Canadian politician and community leader. She was the first Chinese Canadian woman elected to Alberta’s legislature and has worked extensively in education and public service. She also co-founded organizations that promote multiculturalism, immigrant support, and anti-racism. Her leadership has helped make government more inclusive and representative of diverse communities. Teresa Woo-Paw’s work continues to inspire future leaders across Canada.

We made it to Friday, OT! It’s time to let loose and celebrate a great Wellness Week. Join us in the atrium at lunch for Karaoke! Whether you’re going to take the stage or just want to cheer on your friends, come out and enjoy the music. Don't forget to hand in your completed Bingo cards by the end of the day! 

Congrats to the SR Boys rugby team on their 50-12 win over MMR yesterday.  Try scorers were Fleet with 3, Mason with 2 and Noah, Cooper and Campbell with one each.  Converts were handled by Elliot with 3 and Chris with 2.

The varsity girls soccer team had a huge 10-0 win against Gaetan Gervais to finish off their regular season and secure their playoff spot. It was a great team effort with a variety of different goal scorers. Big shoutout to our player of the match, Carmen and to Kate for claiming another clean sheet.  Good luck Tuesday in the Quarter Finals. 

Hey OT!  Get ready to show some spirit this Friday…it’s Crocs and Socks day!  Wear your craziest socks with crocs or sandals to earn dream team points for Relay for Life!  Each person participating will earn 10 pts, you can send a picture to the OTHS Fundraising email or come to the Atrium with your team!

Hey OT, just a reminder, the Sales and marketing club meeting is canceled today. We will see you next week! 

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch team for another 17-7 win yesterday against White Oaks. Shoutouts go to Eilidh (Eye-lee) with an inside-the-park home run, Taylor with 7 RBIs, Ling, Taylor, and Mackenzie for a perfect double play, Robin and Kashvi with back to back doubles, and Malaika with amazing pitching. Good luck in your next game on Tuesday!

Bank Days, Bank Days, Bank Days! Hey Relay Participants - Have you been collecting cash donations as part of your fundraising?? Then you need to come to Bank Days in room 237 on Tuesday or Thursday next week. That’s right, return your completed pledge forms and cash to the Relay committee in room 237 on Tuesday, May 12 or Thursday May 14th. ALL pledge forms and cash must be returned before Relay. Future bank days will be May 19th, 21st, 25th, 26th, and 27th.

"Attention! There are only 3 weekends left to fundraise for Relay! Remember to keep fundraising to reach the mandatory minimum of $100e, but every dollar counts!" 

Asian Heritage Month

Have you ever thought about the individuals who helped shape Canada’s military history? Today’s feature is Lieutenant Commander William K. L. Lore. He was the first Chinese Canadian officer in the Royal Canadian Navy and played a significant role during World War II. He was also the first Allied officer to step foot in Hong Kong after its liberation and helped free prisoners who had been held in extremely difficult conditions. His leadership and service were groundbreaking at a time when opportunities were limited for many. William K. L. Lore’s contributions remain an important part of Canadian history.

Wellness Week

For today's wellness activity, we’re focused on growth and relaxation. Come by the Planting and Colouring table during lunch today. You can pot your own sunflower to take home, or just sit back and de-stress with some mindful colouring. It’s the perfect way to recharge before the end of the week!

Coffeehouse

Thanks OT for showing up and making a great coffeehouse last week! There will be QR codes around the school if you'd like to submit any video recordings which may be posted to our social media. We hope to see both performers and attendees again at the next coffeehouse in the Fall! 

Asian Heritage month

As we celebrate Asian Heritage month, each day we will focus on the accomplishments of Asian and South Asian people through various disciplines including literature, the arts, politics, athletics and more. How can art be used as a powerful tool for social change? Today’s spotlight is on Vivek Shraya, a South Asian Canadian artist, writer, and activist. She has built a career across music, film, and literature, earning multiple awards for her work. Vivek Shraya is also a strong advocate for transgender rights and uses her platform to raise awareness about identity, race, and inclusion. Through her creative expression, she challenges societal norms and encourages meaningful conversations. Her work highlights the importance of representation and the power of storytelling in creating change.

Bike Club

Bike Club is back.  Do you like to ride and want like-minded students to ride with?  Come to room 112 to get information.  Our first spring ride is on Thursday, May 7, right after school.  All abilities welcome, so long as you can ride a bike.

Interact Club art supply drive

Do you have random art supplies that are new or gently used laying around at home? Well OT’s very own Interact Club is hosting an art donations box for the non-profit organization Art for Aid. We are looking for new or gently used art supplies like unused acrylic paint and empty canvases  for kids from kindergarten to grade 8 in indigenous communities who don’t have access to quality supplies.  We will be looking for your contributions to the donation box in the art hallway until May 15th.  Thank you!

Roblox Creator Club

The Roblox Creator Club is meeting at lunch in Room 191! Join us for a special guest speaker — a developer with 400K+ visits and 30K Roblox in revenue — sharing the secrets behind their success, plus a fun, beginner-friendly lesson to kick off your game development journey. Don't miss it!

Varsity Girls rugby team

Congrats to the Varsity Girls rugby team on beating Abbey Park in the rain at home yesterday 56-0.  Try scorers were Gemma with 4, Matilda with 3 and Charlotte with 1 plus 8 conversions!!!

Varsity girls soccer team

Yesterday, the varsity girls soccer team fought hard against Burlington Central, coming up short of a tie by only 1 goal. The girls didn’t give up and were able to put 5 goals in the net with 4 from Vic and 1 from Carmen. Shoutout to our player of the game, Ema, and also Chanel for making some great saves in net. Good luck to the team tomorrow against Gaetan-Gervais. 

OT Athletes of the Month for April

Congratulations to our OT Athletes of the Month for April. A huge shoutout to Gioia G for Varsity Girls Rugby, Owen P for Sr boys Rugby, Ben H for Varsity Boys Soccer, and Melody L for Varsity Girls Soccer.  Please come down to the PE office at some point today to have your picture taken. Well done, Devils!

Varsity Girls’ Slo-Pitch Team

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls’ Slo-Pitch Team for their 17-7 win over Sainte-Trinite yesterday. Despite the rain, the team had great hits, catches, and amazing pitching by Malaika. Maya had a great outfield catch, while many players had RBIs including Robin, Kashvi, Malaika, and Emma. Great work Devils!

There is a senior team Mock Trial meeting in room #110 at the start of lunch today.

Wellness Week- card writing event

Hey OT, come to the atrium at lunch! Today, as part of our wellness spirit week, there will be a card making booth where you can create your own cards to be sent to the patients at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.  Come by and spread a little kindness.

Happy Tuesday! Today is all about gratitude and community. At lunch in the atrium, take a few minutes to write a note of appreciation to the healthcare workers and patients at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. A little kindness goes a long way! see you there! 

Asian Heritage Month

What does it take to challenge unfair laws and create lasting change? Today we are recognizing Kew Dock Yip, a Chinese Canadian lawyer and civil rights activist. He became the first Chinese Canadian lawyer in Canada after being accepted into law school on his third attempt, demonstrating remarkable persistence. He later played a key role in fighting discriminatory laws, including helping repeal the Chinese Immigration Act of 1923. Despite facing significant racism, he remained committed to justice and equality throughout his life. Kew Dock Yip’s work helped shape a more inclusive Canada and continues to serve as an example of resilience and advocacy.

Prom Tables

Today is the ABSOLUTE LAST DAY to submit a prom table form to the office. After today, if a student has not selected their own prom table, one will be selected for them. GET YOUR PROM TABLE FORMS IN!

Sr. boys rugby

Congrats to the Sr. boys rugby team in their 64-0 shutout win over Elsie MacGill.  Try scorers were Chris, Evan, Owen Y and Gavin with 2 each and Owen O and Matt with one each.  Chris was on fire with 7 conversions.

Asian Heritage Month

Have you ever wondered who is helping reshape representation in film and television today? Today, we are highlighting Sandra Oh, a Canadian actor born in Ottawa to Korean immigrant parents. Best known for her roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve, her performances have earned international recognition. Sandra Oh made history as the first Asian woman to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress, and she has also won multiple Golden Globe Awards. Her success has helped open doors for greater diversity in the entertainment industry and has inspired many aspiring actors. Sandra Oh is part of the Korean Canadian community, and her achievements continue to influence representation on a global scale.

Senior Mock Trial team

Congratulations to the Senior Mock Trial team for a good showing in the Halton senior tournament last week. The team finished in 3rd place in a tournament of 10 teams. With some timely objections and excellent character testimony the team frustrated the competition. The team has advanced to the regional tournament this Friday! 

"Design for Fun" Challenge

Today is the day! Head to Room 203 at lunch for the "Design for Fun" Challenge. We are officially opening the floor for teams of 2–4 to present their most creative, entertaining products to our judges. Whether you’re ready to pitch your masterpiece or just want to see who wins the crown, we’ll see you in the tank!

ART SHOW

The April Arts Show ends TODAY!  At lunch, follow the ART SHOW signs which will lead you to Room 159 to see some frame-worthy student creations.  From bold strokes to picture-perfect pieces, there’s something for everyone!  Come by, get inspired, and canvas the creativity. See you there! 

OT Alumni Fair

Attention all grades: TODAY is the OT Alumni Fair in the Library at lunch from 11:00am to noon.  There will be over 40 OT alumni attending that are eager and ready to answer any post-secondary questions you may have.  All grades are welcome, bring your questions!

Please note that the library is only open to those attending the post-secondary fair.

Prom tables

Attention Grade 12’s: the prom table sign-up form is available in the main office and is DUE TODAY.  Here are a few important reminders: you must have 10 people at your table, if you are bringing a guest they must be sitting with you, and any dietary restrictions must be clearly indicated on the form.

Next week is Wellness Week!  Stay tuned for daily lunch activities brought to you by the student council!  These include: bingo, card-making, spirit day, spring planting, colouring and karaoke!  Check out the devils Instagram for more info!

March break 26/27 Paris trip

Interested in the OTHS trip to Paris next March break? Check out the posters and the website for the itinerary or come to a meeting on May 21 at 7 pm in the library! (bring your parents).  Space is limited to sign up early!  Unsure about it?  See Ms. Zanini or Ms. Holbeche to ask more questions. 

Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch Team

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Slo-Pitch Team for a great first game yesterday against Elsie MacGill. The team walked away with an 8-8 tie, showing amazing teamwork all around. They had big hits including a triple from Eilidh, great catches, and executed a double play. Great work Devils!

Varsity girls soccer team

Yesterday, the varsity girls soccer team had another great team win against Elsie MacGill. The girls won 6-0 with Leila scoring 4, and Kismet & Chanel scoring 1 each. Shoutout to our player of the game, Catherine, and also Kate for securing another clean sheet. 

Junior ultimate frisbee

Congratulations to the junior ultimate frisbee team. The team went undefeated yesterday with a record of 3 - 0. Shoutout to Gavin K for some incredible long distance passes made and Zoe L for catching everything within her vicinity and scoring multiple points. 

University of Guelph Business Pentathlon

Yesterday, twenty of our business students represented OT at the University of Guelph Business Pentathlon. A huge congratulations to Noah N, Luka R, Moeen S, and Ari B on their impressive second-place finish!
