Costume Contest:

Hey OT! Dust off your best Halloween costume to wear and submit to the costume contest tomorrow!  Plus, trick or treat in classes 102, 104, and 110 to get some free candy! No tricks, only treats we promise!

MEDLIFE:

Are you interested in making a global impact? Are you interested in learning about how OT students have helped low income communities in South America in the past, and how you can play a part too? Join us TODAY at lunch in room 223 for MEDLIFE!

Interact Club:

Hey OT, get ready for some Halloween fun this Friday. Interact Club will be hosting a face painting and photo booth at lunch in the atrium so come out with your friends, get creative with spooky designs, and snap fun polaroid pictures to celebrate Halloween!

Rugby:

A reminder that intramural touch rugby is today at lunch.  Everybody is welcome, no experience necessary.

Chess Club:

Hey OT! Do you want to trick or treat—sorry, I mean check or treat? The OTHS Chess Club is excited to announce our second school chess tournament, and everyone is invited to compete! All players will receive candy just for participating, and winners will get even more. The tournament will be this Friday in room 218. Book Drive:

Eco Council is running a book drive starting this coming Monday! We’re collecting books in very good condition to donate to the Oakville Public Library for their annual sale. You can drop off your books in the designated boxes in the atrium. Let’s give our old books a new home and support our community. Start gathering together your donations over the weekend!

MSA:

Where art meets culture and community- The Muslim Student Association is bringing back our annual henna table! Join us in the atrium next week from the 5th to 7th and get your henna done! Bring $1-4 in cash and help us raise funds for women's shelters in Canada!! Can’t wait to see you there!

Girls in STEM:

Ever wondered what it's like to be a girl in science and technology? Join us this Thursday at the start of lunch in the CAD lab (Room 163) for a Q&A session during Girls in STEM with professional women engineers!

Jr Girls Volleyball:

Calling all Jr Girls Athletes! The tryouts for the Jr Girls Volleyball team are taking place next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please join Ms. Dermott in room 120 on Tuesday, Nov 4th after school for the team information meeting. All athletic forms must be completed to participate in the tryouts. Come pick up your athletic form from Ms. Dermott in Room 120 or 184 before Tuesday’s meeting! 

Math Contest:

This is a reminder that the COMC math contest is taking place today at 3:00 pm in the cafeteria for all of those students who signed up.

Movie Time:

Calling all movie lovers! The night before Christmas movie is running in room 196 tomorrow! See you then!

We’ll be introducing the club, talking about what’s to come this year, and brainstorming fun ideas for future bake days. Whether you’re a total beginner or a master baker, everyone is welcome! Come to room 173 TODAY during the first half of lunch to learn more.

DECA:

It’s Wednesday and that means DECA practice. Be sure to come to room 237, 195 or 196 depending on your event to get in your last practice before Regionals on Sunday, November 9th. 

And don’t forget that the mandatory Multiple Choice exam is next Tuesday at lunch. More information will be posted on Google Classroom.

Girls Basketball:

The varsity girls basketball team ended their season last night. The girls played well against Elsie McGill on both ends, however, they could not secure the win. Great job to all the girls for an amazing year! Special congrats go to captains Heather and Emma who scored great baskets last night! Their coaches and teammates want to give a special thank you to Heather and Emma for their four years of dedication to the girls basketball program and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Jr Dodgeball:

Today’s the day Juniors! Are you looking for a fun, and different way to spend your lunch break? Grab your friends and come down to gym A/B for our JUNIOR dodgeball intramural TODAY! Participate in fun and competitive games of dodgeball with a group of friends, or just drop in and be welcomed into an amazing team of players! Spots are limited to 30 players, so it’s first come, first serve. Make sure you wear athletic clothes and shoes, and have your intramural sticker to participate. Don't miss out! Hey OT! Study Club is hosting a special university workshop today at lunch in Room 114! Come meet TWO OTHS alumni who are now studying Mineral Engineering and Engineering Science. They’ll be sharing what life is like at University of Toronto along with any questions! 

Also, stay tuned for another U of T workshop happening this Friday featuring a third-year U of T Engineering student joining us virtually!

Dodgeball:

The Grade 11 & 12 Dodgeball Intramural that was scheduled for today at lunch has been cancelled.  We’re hoping to reschedule for next Monday at lunch, so keep your teams ready and stay tuned for confirmation later this week!

AP Exams:

AP Exams.  All students have received their JOIN codes.  Students must use these JOIN codes to complete the last step of AP exam registration.  If you did not receive a JOIN code and paid for an AP exam please see Mrs O’Hara today in the Guidance office.

Jr Boys Volleyball:

Congratulations to our junior boys volleyball team on their exciting win against Georgetown yesterday!  The energy on both the court and bench was electric, and the win was the best way to end the season!  Shout outs to our players of the game:  Michael McLoughlin and Alden A for their powerhouse hits, Rajveer B for his quick thinking defensive plays, Hao Z for his amazing setting, and for his serving run that gave us the advantage in the last set, and finally, Ming Q for his team spirit that built up the energy of his teammates.  Coach Dermott and Coach Hanley are very proud of all of the teams growth this season!

Senior Boys Volleyball:

Last night our senior boys volleyball team ended their regular season with a win over Georgetown!  We want to acknowledge our graduating seniors: Arjun B, Owen B, Alex C, Alex G, Braedan J, Vincent L, Andrew M and Jeremy S for all that they have contributed to OT volleyball program over the years! Please come out to cheer the team on as they head into quarter finals tomorrow afternoon school against Garth Webb!

Tennis:

Follow-up to yesterday’s tennis announcement: OT was not just the runner-up in HDSB, but also in the entire junior tournament, which also included two other boards! Congratulations to our amazing players!

Hey OT! Looking for LEADERSHIP and VOLUNTEER opportunities with a positive impact on your community? Join Interact Club! Come TODAY during the 1st half of lunch in the library. This is your chance to be part of something bigger than just school. Interact is all about teamwork, leadership and volunteer opportunities. Whether it’s helping out at local events, supporting causes that matter, or coming up with your own ideas to create change, this is where you can step up, connect, and make things happen.

Halloween:

Grab your colouring pencils and get ready to cut out and decorate your very own paper pumpkin in the atrium tomorrow! You can even tape it around the school to add some Halloween spirit! We can’t wait to see your designs!

There will be a brief but very important meeting for the Fit Fusion Club today at the beginning of lunch in room 192!

Crash Mat Soccer Baseball:

Crash Mat Soccer Baseball is happening at lunch today for grade 9 and 10 students.

It’s soccer, it’s baseball, and yes — there are crash mats, so sliding is strongly encouraged. Make sure you have your athletic shoes and intramural sticker, and come out to the gym at the start of lunch to join the fun! Timbit prize for winning team!

Dodgeball Event:

Get ready to show your school spirit, the Grade 12 Leadership Class is hosting an OT Dodgeball Event on Tuesday, October 28th at lunch in the Main Gym!

No sign-up is needed, just show up, bring your energy, and get ready to play or cheer on your friends!  Wear athletic clothes and running shoes, and let’s make this a lunch to remember.  See you there, seniors, it’s game time!

Jr Tennis:

Congratulations to the Junior Tennis Team for their strong showing at the GHAC tournament last Friday! The team included Lauren L, Nyomi P, Alice W, and Paul B, as well the Mixed Doubles Team, Sophie B and Ruisi F, who achieved silver, and the Boys’ Doubles Team, Scott H and Tony Y who won gold! Special thanks to Ms. McNichol and Eleven C for their invaluable help!
