Students from the Halton District School Board (HDSB) earned top honours at the 2025 Skills Canada National Competition, showcasing their exceptional abilities across a wide range of skilled trades and technology disciplines. Competing against hundreds of students from across the country, HDSB students demonstrated their technical expertise and brought home five medals representing Team Ontario.
Students from HDSB’s I-STEM program at Aldershot School and Elsie MacGill Secondary School have earned national recognition in the 2025 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition.
The Special Athletics Track Meet brings together students with diverse physical and developmental abilities from across HDSB schools to take part in a variety of track and field activities in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Georgetown District HS swim team celebrated its 50th anniversary this school year, and recently hosted a reunion that brought together alumni from the founding team in 1974 all the way to the team's current swimmers.
Students from the SHSM program at Garth Webb Secondary School performed exceptionally well at the 2025 FIRST Ontario Provincial Championship, placing 2nd in the technology division and 3rd overall, earning five Gracious Professionalism awards, which celebrates exceptional acts of respect and kindness, through collaborative problem-solving with direct competitors.
Students in the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program at Abbey Park HS recently participated in a hands-on learning session focused on disability, accessibility and assistive technology.
As part of Mental Health Week, students at Abbey Park High School created a thought-provoking art installation that took centre stage in the school’s main foyer. Entirely student-led, the project brought together members of the Safety and Well-Being team and the Art Club, who collaborated from start to finish – conceptualizing, planning and building the installation themselves.
The HDSB’s Halton Student Film Festival, known as The Eddies, celebrated its 21st anniversary on May 12, 2025 at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. With more than 300 attendees, the event was an exciting showcase of student talent, creativity and collaboration.
