Scholarships: Rotary Club of Burlington

The Rotary Club of Burlington Foundation was established in Burlington in 1991 to provide ongoing educational awards to deserving students who wish to pursue post-secondary education.  Currently we offer 4 Academic Scholarships, 1 Vocational Studies Award, and 3 Specialty Scholarships/Awards to individuals demonstrating leadership at a school, university, business or community level and a commitment to community through a volunteer capacity. We also offer 2 Leap Forward Awards for individuals facing financial or other barriers to education that have reached a crossroads and are now ready, with additional financial support, to take a step forward in learning new skills. Further, there are 2 Athletic Scholarships for students pursuing high level Athletic training at the post-secondary level. You can find out more information here: https://rotaryburlingtonlakeshore.ca/scholarships/ and reach out to Ms. Joy Baxter (baxterj@hdsb.ca) and Ms. Danielle McCarthy (mccarthyd@hdsb.ca) if you have any questions.

Police Record Check Update for School Volunteers

In December 2025, the Ontario Ministry of Education introduced amendments to Police Record Check requirements under Ontario Regulation 298/25, effective April 1, 2026. As a result, school boards are now required to obtain a new Police Record Check (PRC) for all school volunteers every five years. A new PRC will also be required if there has been a lapse in submitting the Annual Offence Declaration. These updated requirements apply to both current and new volunteers and are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. We sincerely appreciate the time and care our volunteers bring to our school community. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference, and we look forward to welcoming both returning and new volunteers. Learn more about the updated PRC requirements for volunteers and how to get involved in our school community by visiting the Volunteer in HDSB Schools
