Good Morning MSB Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at MSB! We hope your summer was full of rest, fun, and memorable moments. Our team has been hard at work preparing classrooms and learning spaces, and we cannot wait to fill our halls with student energy once again.

Please take note of a few essential schedule updates and details as we prepare for day one:

First Day of School: Tuesday, September 8
Morning Supervision: Begins at 9:05 AM
School Start Time: 9:20 AM (New start time for this school year)
Dismissal Time: 3:40 PM
End of Day Supervision: Ends at 3:55 PM
Class Lists Release: Class assignments for all students will be emailed to parents on Friday, September 4 at 2:30 PM

Communication from the Office will continue to occur through a weekly email. You can expect to see an email once a week on Thursday or Friday. We hope you find them informative and useful. They will also be housed on the MSB website for the year. Please see the link below:

First Morning Information

Our teachers are just as excited to meet their new friends out back on Tuesday, September 08. We will have plenty of staff with vests on to help guide you to the right spot. We ask that parents help their children find their class line, have one last quick hug goodbye, and then move back beyond the pylon barriers. This is to ensure the safe monitoring of all our students.

Kindergarten students also known as Year One (JK) or Year Two students (SK) will meet in the North Kindergarten Pen.

Grade 1-3(and some 4) will line up by the North Gym Door entrance.

Grade 4-5 will line up by the middle/linc entrance

Grade 5-8 will line up by the South Door entrance right near the Office.

If you aren't sure of what this means, don't worry. We will have signs up and people with vests will be able to help direct you.

We are hoping this small list below helps some families with their back-to-school planning. Academic materials like pencils, erasers, and paper will be provided for all students. For the first day, here are some items your child will need:

-we have two nutrition breaks of 20 minutes for students to eat. We ask parents be mindful of allergies such as nuts when packing lunches. We are a Nut-Free Zone

-a refillable water bottle

-pair of indoor and outdoor shoes

-a change of clothes for our younger students

-grade 4-8 students will have access to a locker. Some may choose to use a lock. Unfortunately, we will not be providing locks but families may choose to get one. Teachers will ask students to give the code to them in case of emergency or the student accidently forgets their combination.

School Council 2026/27

All parent/guardian(s) are welcome to join the 2026/27 MSB School Council. This council will meet a minimum of four times over the school year. Meetings typically last 60 minutes. If you are interested in running for a position of leadership on Council please fill in the form below:

We are asking all families to take a look at the Halton District School Boards (HDSB) parent portal. This is a useful website full of pertinent information such as:

-School Cash Online (pay for school trips or hot lunches)

-bus cancellations and school closures

(we are considered ZONE 3 in Acton)

-reporting an absence or late attendance for your child

If your child(ren) uses the bus, it would be helpful to check in with the bus company website:

Cell Phone Use

The HDSB cell phone policy follows Provincial guidelines to keep personal mobile devices out of sight and on silent or powered off during instructional times. If students need to communicate with their loved ones, they will be asked to come to the Office and we will help with this process.

We will be asking all students to store their mobile Device in their locker until dismissal. If your child has a unique need to access their cell phone please call the Office.

HDSB Secondary School Open House

On Saturday, September 26, 2026 the Halton District School Board will host a board-wide, interactive Open House at Craig Kielburger SS in Milton from 10:00am-3:00pm.

This event is designed to help students in Grades 6-10 and their families explore the full range of opportunities available across our secondary schools, including programs and pathways, academics, athletics, clubs, community and support, and student life.

Good Afternoon MSB Families,

As we close out this fantastic week, we reflect on how lucky we are to be in such an amazing community. Thank you. We have lots of information to share with you so please remember to read the weekly message in order to stay connected with us.

Thank you for safely using the Kiss N’ Ride in the morning. We want to just remind all a few things about the morning drop off:

-please use the street to park if you need to assist your child out of the car and/or accompany your child into school.

-Kiss N’ Ride at the North parking lot is a continuously moving zone. We ask that you remain in the car while your children exit.

-do not have children exit the car until they get to the curve in the road by the kindergarten area. We will have staff on duty to ensure your child(ren) are safe.

-please be patient. We ask that drivers remain in line while using the drop off zone. Please do not pass as we do not want to incur any injuries.

-please do not use the designated accessible parking spots unless you have the proper identification. We do have families that need those spots.

From the desk of Mr. Brodie -- MSB goes to the Guelph Storm Game

On Sunday, October 4th, 2026 the MSB Choir will have the opportunity to sing O Canada on ice at the Sleeman Centre in Guelph prior to the Guelph Storm vs Kitchener Rangers game. Puck drop is at 2:07 PM. We are inviting all MSB families to purchase tickets to watch the Guelph Storm take on the Rangers that afternoon.

Tickets are only $20.00 per person (approx. 33% off the regular adult ticket price!). This event is a fundraiser for MSB and approx. $4.00 of your $20.00 ticket goes directly back to the school’s music program. You’re welcome to bring friends and extended family members, too!

NOTE: Choir members will receive a free ticket and be seated with their paying family members.

Open House/Movie Night

We are excited to invite you to the MSB Open House on Thursday, September 24th!

Come drop by anytime between 5:45 PM and 6:45 PM to tour the school, meet our staff, and explore what your students will be learning this year. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the school community and see your child's learning space firsthand.

To make the evening extra easy and fun, we are offering a pizza dinner for families! You can pre-order pizza for your family to enjoy during the event. All proceeds from the pizza sales will go directly toward purchasing a movie night streaming license so we can host fun, school-wide movie events for our students later this year.

Details on how to place your pizza order will be sent out early next week.

Once you are done with your visit we will start the show! We will have our first movie night begin at 6:45pm in the South Gym. Stay tuned for which movie we pick to show!

Message from HDSB Support Staff -- Child Youth Care-Practioners (CYC-P)

We would like to introduce our school’s Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYC-P): Michelle Crozier, and our School’s Social Worker(s) (SW): Sarah Bryson. Michelle and Sarah will be a part of the Limehouse community this year.

What is a CYC-P? CYC-Ps are an active and integral part of the school community, often participating in school-wide activities (e.g. well-being teams, youth engagement, parent/guardian/caregiver information sessions, etc.) with educators to enhance student well-being. Students receive mental health literacy and social-emotional learning while at school through the curriculum. As a complement to this learning, CYC-Ps promote mental health through sharing and co-leading evidence-based social-emotional learning and activities to provide classwide programming. CYC-Ps are also part of response teams for all schools in the Halton District School Board (e.g. Traumatic Events Response Team, and suicide risk screening).

How CYC-Ps can support students

Parents/guardians/caregivers may receive notification letters and updates throughout the school year about evidence-based social-emotional literacy materials shared in classrooms with CYC-Ps. CYC-Ps can also provide specific opportunities for students through small group or individual sessions focusing on psychoeducation, well-being and skill building. These sessions support students in reaching their goals. This is done in consultation with and consent from parents/guardians/caregivers.

What is a Social Worker? Social Workers are an integral part of the school community. Social Workers work together with students, parents/caregivers, staff and community providers to help students feel well and have a positive school experience. Students learn ways to address their feelings and emotions through identity-affirming evidenced-based therapeutic interventions. Social Workers, like CYC-Ps, are also part of response teams for all schools in the HDSB. Access to a Social Worker is done through your child’s school with parent/guardian consent through the SRT process. Grade 7 and 8 students ( who are 12 years of age and older) can self-refer and receive individual psychotherapeutic support.

How can Social Workers support students? Social Workers use psychotherapeutic interventions to support students on a variety of issues. These interventions are evidence-based and are identity-affirming to ensure that students feel that their voice is being heard and validated. Some interventions used include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Social Workers and students work towards goal based outcomes.
