A Message from Our Principal
Welcome to Limehouse Public School!
It is a true honour to serve as the Principal of a school with such a rich history and a vibrant, dedicated community. At Limehouse Public School, we operate with a simple but powerful conviction: Every student, every day, a success! Our school is more than just a place of academic instruction; it is a "small school with a big heart" where every child is a known and valued member of our school community. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, inclusive environment where students feel the confidence to take risks, the support to ask questions, and the inspiration to grow.
Our Three Pillars of Success
To achieve our mission, we focus on balancing the heart and the mind through three core values:
-
Kindness: The Foundation of our Community We believe that learning begins with a sense of belonging. Kindness at Limehouse is a commitment to seeing the best in one another. We foster an inclusive environment where students are treated with dignity and where empathy is practiced daily. By building a culture of kindness, we ensure that every student feels safe enough to be themselves and supported enough to reach for their goals.
-
Gratitude: A Perspective of Appreciation Gratitude allows us to recognize the strengths within ourselves and the beauty of the world around us. We teach our students to appreciate their community, their peers, and the unique learning opportunities our school provides. By practicing gratitude, our students develop a positive outlook that helps them stay connected to their surroundings and grounded in the support of our school community.
-
A Growth Mindset: The Power of "Yet" We believe that intelligence and ability are not fixed, but are qualities that grow through dedication and hard work. At Limehouse, we foster the idea that students can do hard things. We don't shy away from challenges; we embrace them as the only way to truly learn. We are firm believers in the power of the word "yet." If a student is struggling with a new concept, we remind them that they simply haven’t mastered it yet. This balance—the courage to do hard things and the patience of "yet"—transforms obstacles into stepping stones and builds the resilience our students need for life.
Learning Through Connection Beyond the Classroom: Nature and Well-being
We are incredibly fortunate to be located in such a beautiful natural setting. By integrating our vast outdoor spaces into our curriculum through Place-Based Learning, we provide a living laboratory for our students.
Beyond the academic benefits, we recognize that being outside regularly is vital for the mental health and well-being of our children. Nature acts as a natural reset; it reduces stress, increases focus, and fosters a sense of calm and wonder. Whether they are exploring, observing, or simply breathing in the fresh air, our students benefit from a learning environment that supports their emotional health as much as their intellectual growth. This connection to the outdoors sparks a lifelong love of discovery and a balanced, healthy approach to learning.
Our staff is committed to providing a high-quality, rigorous educational experience that meets the needs of every learner. Together with our parents and partners, we strive to ensure that every student leaves Limehouse Public School with a strong academic foundation and a character rooted in integrity.
I invite you to be a part of our journey as we work together to ensure that for every student, every day, there is a success.
Warmly,
Douglas Jones
