School Announcements

2025-2026 School Year

Start Up Paperwork

This week your student will have brought home some important paperwork to be returned to school as soon as possible.

The  “Elementary Physical Education and Intramural Information Letter, Acknowledgment of Elements of Risk, Consent to Participate, and Medical Information Form" must be signed and returned to school as soon as possible for your student to be able to participate in physical education.

Please return this form by Friday, September 12, 2025. Any students who have not submitted their form by this date will not be able to participate in physical education.

The class that returns all of their forms fully completed and signed in all the correct places will win a class pizza party! So please get those forms signed and returned.

Additional startup forms will be sent home by email to be completed digitally. We will inform you when these are sent out.

Reminder About Late Arrivals

It is, of course, recommended that your child arrive on time to school.

When students arrive after the bell, they will be required to wait outside the front doors until after the morning announcements are completed.  Announcements begin at 9:00am and the length of the announcements varies depending on how many announcements there are on a particular day.

Students of all ages must be accompanied by an adult.  Please do not drop them off at the street and drive away. Parents must escort their students all the way into the school through both sets of doors and ensure they have been checked in at the office.  We understand some students walk to school with parent supervision, this is an exception, but they will still have to wait outside the doors until we can assist them.  Upon arrival students must check in at the office so we can sign them in. Once signed in they may proceed to class.

Hot Dog Day

Hot Dog Day is back!!!

Kids LOVE them and parents get to pack one less lunch! It’s a Win Win situation!!!!

We will be offering Halal chicken hotdogs (same as previous years), Veggie dogs, and chocolate chip cookies from Terra Cotta Cookie Company.

September’s Hot Dog Day is now available on School Cash Online, the rest of the school year will be available in the next few days. Place your September orders today.  Please note that this fee does not disappear from your list of items on School Cash Online once it is purchased. If you purchase Hot Dog Day for the entire year, you will be able to go back in and order it over and over again. Please check your history (top right corner of the page) to ensure you are not duplicating your order and your student receives multiple hot dogs.  All profits from this initiative will go directly to supporting learning resources to help pay for various events/equipment throughout the year.

In order to make this program happen we rely on Parent/Grandparent Volunteers. We need 3 people every other Monday starting Sept 22nd from 11am - 1pm to help cook, prepare and deliver to the classrooms.

You can sign up for the dates that work for your schedule here

Please don’t feel you need to come every time if you can only help once or twice in the year.

A current police vulnerable sector check is required to volunteer

at the school.

Fall Fair Trip

We are looking forward to this year's trip to the Fall Fair. The trip will take place Friday September 19, 2025. More details to follow.

If you would like to volunteer for this trip you will need a Halton Regional Police Services Vulnerable Sector Report that has been issued within the last 6 months. If you have already submitted a HRPS VSR you will need to complete the HDSB Annual Offence Declaration.

Student Email Passwords and Google Classroom

When students move from grade 3 to grade 4 their student network ID passwords are updated from a 4 character password to an 8 character password. Please contact your teacher if you require your student’s new password or need access to google classroom.

Snack Programs

Our snack program has not yet started. We have placed an order and are hoping it will be delivered next week, so until then please ensure you pack enough food for your student. It’s better to pack too much food, than have hungry students. We have had several students come to the office looking for snacks already.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is donated to charity regularly. Approximately twice a month, any unclaimed items in our Lost and Found will be donated to charity. If your student is missing an item, please encourage them to look for it in their classroom or come to the front foyer and take a look for their missing items in the Lost and Found.

Personal Items at School

Everything students will need to be successful at school will be provided. Please do not send  items, such as pencil cases, binders, toys, books or other personal items to school.

Meet the Teacher Night

Due to a Ministry of Education Mandated school re-organization, Meet The Teacher Night will be postponed. The new date is Thursday October 9th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm.

Code of Conduct

As we settle into the beginning of a new school year, it's a great time for families to revisit the Halton District School Board (HDSB) Code of Conduct together. This important document outlines the expectations for student behaviour and helps create a safe, welcoming, and respectful learning environment for everyone.

We encourage all parents and guardians to take a few moments to review the Code of Conduct with their children. These conversations are a valuable way to reinforce the importance of kindness, respect, and inclusion both in and out of the classroom.

By working together—staff, students, and families—we can ensure a positive school experience where every student feels safe, supported, and valued.

Label your students clothing

We are two and a half weeks into the school year and already have quite a collection of lost and found items. Please ensure you are labeling your students' clothing with their first and last names so we can ensure lost items get returned to their rightful owners.

Pizza Day

The first term of Pizza Day will begin on Tuesday October 7th.  Orders can be placed on School Cash Online until Wednesday October 1st. Instructions on how to register for School Cash Online were sent home with all students not yet registered during the first week of school. If you have not registered for School Cash Online, please reach out to Ms. Gregory by email.

Terry Fox Walk/Run

On Monday, September 22, 2025, J.M. Denyes Public School participated in the Terry Fox Walk.

As a school community, we successfully raised $710, surpassing our fundraising goal! As a reward, students enjoyed an extra recess.

Thank you to everyone who donated and to our students for supporting such a great cause.

Last Chance to Help HDSB Students

Some students in our community started this school year without essential supplies. Thanks to the Halton Learning Foundation (HLF), many have already received urgent support—but the need is still high.

The Back-to-School Campaign is in its final days, and HLF is making a last push to help 300 students by September 30. They are asking for the community’s help to continue saying “YES” to every student who needs support.

Here's what one parent shared about the impact of this support:

“The support from HLF was crucial. It came at the right time, just when back-to-school shopping was necessary. It made my children extremely happy, and I’m so thankful for your support.”

To help the HLF meet their goal, please consider making a gift for a student in need today and Donate Now

Together, we can give students not just supplies, but confidence, dignity, and hope.

October 10th is World Mental Health Day

A day focused on raising awareness about mental health. Just like physical health, learning about mental health, understanding it, and taking care of it is important. When we understand how to recognize mental health concerns and the impact stigma can have on our ability to ask for help, we are in a better position to support our children.
